Your credit union has a longstanding history in the involvement of local communities. We strive to make the transition into post-secondary education as easy as possible with our Scholarship Program. If you are a Grade 12 student on Prince Edward Island and are planning on attending a recognized post-secondary institution, we are here for you. To apply please see the eligibility and evaluation requirements below for more information on how you qualify for one of our many scholarships or bursaries.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Applicant, parent(s), or legal guardian must be an active member of a credit union on Prince Edward Island.
  2. The applicant must be a full-time Grade 12 student during the 2019 - 2020 academic school year.
  3. The applicant must be planning to attend a recognized University or College for the 2020 - 2021 school year. Please see list of all recognized Universities and Colleges here.

Evaluation Components:

  1. Scholarships will be awarded to individuals who encompass a well-rounded character. We are looking for involvement in the community, taking initiative in leadership roles and your overall performance as a student.
  2. Consideration will be given to the following criteria:
    • Community involvement
    • Extra-curricular activities
    • Career goals
    • Leadership roles
    • Work accomplishments while attending high school (if applicable)

Application Process:

  1. All applications must include the following documentation on hand in order to complete the application:
    • Proof of acceptance to a recognized university or college.
    • A reference letter from a previous teacher, employer, community group/organization of which the applicant is a member of/involved in.
    • A transcript of marks from the educational institution the applicant is currently attending.
  2. Once the application is submitted you will receive an automated notification through email that we have received it.
  3. The application will then be distributed to the respective credit union selection committee and may be subjected to additional criteria.
  4. You will be notified on the status of your application using through the email address you provide in the application.
  5. Only one application per student will be accepted.
  6. The scholarship will be paid jointly to the recipient and the chosen educational institution and is not renewable.

PEI Credit Unions Scholarship Official Rules:

1. The Contest starts at 9 am ADT on April 1, 2020 and closes on June 5, 2020 at midnight ADT (the “Contest Period”). There is one (1) prize to be won.
2. No purchase necessary to enter. Void where prohibited.
3. To enter and to be eligible to win, entrants (“Applicant”) must be a legal resident of Canada, must meet all PEI Credit Union 2020 Scholarship Eligibility criteria, and must successfully submit a completed PEI Credit Union Scholarship Application (“Application”) before the 2020 deadline.
4. There is a limit of one contest entry per individual Applicant, regardless of how many valid Applications are submitted by an individual.
5. Entries shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an internet access provider, on-line service provider, or other organization (e.g. business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Illegible entries are ineligible. Applicants will be selected from the submitted entries at random in order to conclude a winner.
6. Applicant, parent(s), and/or legal guardian must be an active member of a credit union on Prince Edward Island with all accounts in good standing.
7. Employees and their parents, siblings and children, and persons domiciled with an employee of the Contest providers (PEI Credit Unions), its agents, parent, affiliated or related companies, subsidiaries, divisions, prize sponsors, and promotional and advertising agencies and administrators are ineligible to enter.
8. There is one (1) prize of a MacBook Air available to be won through the Contest (“Prize”) with an estimated retail value of $1,500. The Prize must be accepted as awarded.
9. The Prize will be awarded by random draw (“Draw”) to one (1) Winner.. The Draw made by PEI Credit Unions shall be final.
10. The Draw will happen on June 5th 2020 at 11:00am AST.
11. The Winner will be notified within one (1) business day via email and phone numbers provided in their respective Application. If the Winner is unable to be contacted within five (5) business days, an alternate Winner will be drawn.
12. By entering this Contest , the Applicant agrees to accept and abide by these Rules. All decisions of PEI Credit Unions with respect to any aspect of this Contest, including without limitation the eligibility of entries, are final and binding on all Applicants in all matters as they relate to this Contest.
13. Applicants agree not to violate any criminal or civil law while participating in the Contest. Any Applicant who is found by PEI Credit Unions to have broken any criminal or civil law while participating in the Contest will be immediately disqualified from the Contest.
14. All entries become property of PEI Credit Unions who assume no responsibility for garbled, lost, late, delayed, destroyed or misdirected entries, mail, voice messages, e-mail or any computer errors or malfunctions. Entry materials or data that have been tampered with or altered are void.
15. If for any reason, in the opinion of the PEI Credit Unions in their discretion, the Contest is not capable of running as originally planned, or if the administration, security, fairness, integrity or the proper conduct of the Contest is corrupted or adversely affected by causes beyond their control, PEI Credit Unions reserve their right to cancel, terminate, modify, amend, extend or suspend the Contest.
16. PEI Credit Unions reserve their rights to modify the Rules without materially affecting the terms and conditions hereof.
17. PEI Credit Unions reserve their rights, in their discretion, to disqualify any individual they find to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the Contest or to be acting in violation of the Rules or otherwise in a disruptive manner.
18. PEI Credit Unions shall not be held responsible for any errors or negligence that may arise or occur in connection with the Contest.
19. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the Rules and disclosures or other statements contained in any Contest related materials, including but not limited to the Contest entry form, or point of sale, television, print or online advertising, the Rules posted on shall prevail, govern and control.
20. All intellectual property, including but not limited to trade-marks, trade-names, logos, designs, promotional materials, photographs, video, web pages, source codes, drawings, illustrations, slogans and representations are owned by PEI Credit Unions and/or their affiliates. All rights are reserved. Unauthorized copying or use of any copyrighted material or intellectual property without the express written consent of its owner is strictly prohibited.
21. No one shall be eligible to enter the Contest unless he or she has agreed to the terms & conditions on the Scholarship Application.
