Provincial Credit Union brought community support to life this month through two impactful initiatives: Loyal 2 Local and Random Acts of Kindness.
History of Spreading Kindness
Every year, Provincial Credit Union staff across the Island hold a Random Acts of Kindness Day for their communities. On August 8th, 2025, staff found meaningful ways to spread kindness, including handing out gas and grocery gift cards from local businesses, hosting a free community BBQ, and donating food to the local community fridge.
Local Kindness Initiative
This year, Random Acts of Kindness Day held added significance because it took place during Provincial Credit Union’s Loyal 2 Local Challenge, which is an initiative that aims to inject money back into the local community. During Loyal 2 Local, which runs from July 15 to August 15, 2025, each Provincial Credit Union employee received $60 to spend at a local business of their choice and was invited to share about it on social media, tagging #Loyal2LocalChallenge. Because Random Acts of Kindness Day on August 8th coincided with Loyal 2 Local, staff were encouraged to find creative ways to spread kindness while also supporting local businesses. The Provincial Credit Union in Tignish did this by treating residents to ice cream from Shirley's Cafe and coffee from Eugene's General Store, thoughtfully combining kindness with local support!
Kindness Boosts Community
“Our Random Acts of Kindness Day is one of our favorite traditions because it reminds us how small gestures can make a big difference,” says Darlene Turner, Chief Innovation and Marketing Officer for Provincial Credit Union. “This year, pairing it with Loyal Local meant every smile we shared also strengthened our local economy. It’s a powerful reminder that when we support the people and businesses around us, the entire community benefits.”
Impact On Communities
